Vitamin K and its importance for the body

 

Due to its properties as a coagulation vitamin, vitamin K is known as a coagulation vitamin. Vitamin K comes in a variety of forms, depending on the source from which it is obtained. Plant foods, and in particular leafy green vegetables, contain high amounts of vitamin K1.

Vitamin K2 is a nutrient found in foods derived from animals. In the intestines of our bodies, bacteria are able to produce smaller amounts of vitamin K2, so it can be obtained directly from the food we eat. It is synthetically possible to obtain vitamin K3.
