Ohio high school is locked down after brawls involving 100 students sparked rumors of stabbing and shooting: Pepper-spray was used to separate fighting kids

As many as 100 people are believed to have been involved in several brawls inside an Ohio high school that required pepper spray to be used and the fire alarm being pulled early on Wednesday morning.

Earlier reports indicated that multiple people were stabbed and at least one was hospitalized at Westland High School in Columbus, but law enforcement officials said there were no stabbings or gunshots. Officials also lifted an earlier lockdown.

Several people were detained on Wednesday morning, the Franklin County Sheriff's Office announced.

One student was rushed to a nearby hospital for decontamination after they were exposed to pepper spray, a spokesperson for the FCSO told local media.

The student's injuries are not considered serious. Videos that claim to show the students brawling have circulated online, although these have not been verified.
