Conservative columnist Jason Whitlock brands Joy Reid a ‘phony’ who would spit on her own MOM if Rachel Maddow told her to after MSNBC star was called out by Nicki Minaj over old anti-vax tweet

 Conservative columnist Jason Whitlock called Joy Reid a 'phony' and a 'sell out' who supports whatever 'the left tells her to be down with,' whether she believes it or not, following the MSNBC host's social media spat with Nicki Minaj.

Whitlock, a conservative sports and social commentator, doubled down on the hot take, claiming Reid would spit on her own mother if fellow MSNBC host Rachel Maddow told her to, after Reid was called out by Nicki Minaj over an anti-vax tweet. 

'She’s phony,' Whitlock said of Reid during a recent episode of his 'Fearless' podcast per Fox News.

'If Rachel Maddow … said you got to go spit on your mama to prove you’re down with us, Joy Reid would go spit on her mama.'  

'These people don’t stand for nothing … go look at the old stuff she wrote on her blog about what she really thinks and then go compare it to what she says on MSNBC. Then go look at the paycheck they gave her to say that stuff she don’t believe.'

The 'old stuff on her blog' Whitlock referred to was a series of homophobic and anti-Semitic comments from 2018 that Reid initially claimed were a result of being hacked, before ultimately admitting that she was likely not hacked while maintaining she didn't recall making said comments, Mediaite reported at the time.

Whitlock's comments come just days after Monday's episode of 'The Reid Out,' where Reid called out Minaj, who has nearly 23 million followers on social media, for encouraging her fans to not get the COVID-19 vaccine after claiming it had given her brother swollen testicles. 

'You have a platform, sister, that is 22 million followers, OK? I have 2 million followers. You have 22 million followers on Twitter,' Reid said of Minaj on her show during a discussion about vaccine mandates. 

'For you to use your platform to encourage our community to not protect themselves and save their lives, my God sister, you can do better than that!'

In response, Minaj pulled out an old Tweet from last September in which MSNBC host Joy Reid asks her followers 'who on Earth would trust a vaccine approved by the @US_FDA?' as the latest jab in the pair's feud surrounding Minaj's vaccine hesitancy.

The artist continued to shame Reid on Twitter following Monday's episode of 'The Reid Out'

The spat erupted after Reid, 52, called out Minaj for using her platform 'to encourage our community to not protect themselves and save their lives' after the rapper posted tweets questioning the safety of the vaccine to her 22.6 million followers.

'I guess I can join in the reindeer games too right? Ppl can go on tv & lie on me, I can report on them, too,' Minaj, 38, wrote. 'Doesn’t have to be truths. It can be half truths. Uncle Tomiana asked who on earth would trust the US FDA guys…'

A screenshot of a 2018 Vox article entitled 'The Joy Reid controversy, from homophobic blog posts to a hacking claim, explained,' was also attached to Monday's post - Minaj called Reid, 52, a 'lying, homophobic c**n.'

Meanwhile, Whitlock added that Reid's old inflammatory blog posts should preclude her from lecturing Minaj on online etiquette, while calling the weekday MSNBC host a sell-out who does anything her liberal employers tell her to say, regardless of whether she believes it herself or not.

'She done sold out for money and now she’s down with any and everything the left tells her to be down with … People need to do what makes sense for them. We need to get up out of each other’s business,' Whitlock said. 

'Joy Reid needs to shut up because she ain’t saying what she really believes. We seen the blog posts and all the stuff from her past, what she really believes.'

'The whole thing she does on that show is phony,' Whitlock continued. 

'This woman was raised in a church and had church values. She done sold out for money and now she’s down with any and everything the left tells her to be down with.'

Reid has since attempted to distance herself from the Minaj spat, calling it a  'teachable moment.'
