Fox News has projected that Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) will win the Democratic primary in New Hampshire.
One of the big stories coming out of Tuesday night's Democratic primary in New Hampshire was the unexpected strong finish from Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), who is projected to come in a close third behind favorite Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and former South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg.
With the majority of precincts reporting, Sanders and Buttigieg were in a tight race for the lead garnering 26% and 24% of the vote, respectively, while Klobuchar followed close behind at 20%.
Klobuchar, who was polling alongside former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) in the lead-up to New Hampshire — two previous frontrunners in the race — is on pace to beat the two candidates' combined total in votes.
At the time of publication, Klobuchar was on pace to earn roughly 20% of the vote. Biden and Warren lagged behind significantly, neither eclipsing the 10% mark.
In fact, news broke early Tuesday night that neither Biden nor Warren would reach the 15% threshold and thus would leave New Hampshire without any delegates.
But Biden and Warren's downfall turned out to be Klobuchar's gain, as the Minnesota senator's strong showing was boosted by undecided voters, perhaps unconvinced after Biden's weak performance in Iowa, and women, who may have otherwise voted for Warren. Undoubtedly, Klobuchar's strong performance in last Friday night's debate influenced her rise.
Everything seemed to go her way. In fact, the New York Post reported that one New Hampshire voter even used the "eeny-meeny-miney-mo" method while in the voting booth to select Klobuchar.
Despite coming in third place, Klobuchar's speech to supporters Tuesday night sounded more like a victory speech:
