Florida teacher sparks outrage after reportedly demanding to know if 5th graders are lesbians

An unnamed teacher is under fire after reportedly asking two fifth-grade girls if they are lesbians.

What are the details?

The incident took place in January at Northport K-8 in Port St. Lucie, Florida, after rumors began circulating that the two fifth-grade girls were "dating."
The teacher got wind of the allegations and reportedly demanded — in front of the entire fifth-grade class — to know if the two girls were lesbians.
Parent Jezenia Gambino pulled her daughter out of the school because the child is apparently "too embarrassed" to return to the classroom. Gambino is now home schooling her daughter.
Gambino said, "[The teacher] asked [the two girls] if they were a couple together, and she asked them in a way that they felt they were in trouble."
Gambino's daughter was visibly upset over the incident and reportedly received a message from her female friend stating that "she wasn't sure if they should hang out together anymore because of what happened in school."
"[The friend] didn't want anyone to think they were gay," Gambino added.

What happened to the teacher?

Gambino contacted the school when she discovered what happened. The unnamed teacher was later reported to the Florida Department of Education for inappropriate communications with the two girls. The teacher reportedly received a verbal warning over the conduct.
Gambino says that a verbal warning simply isn't enough.
"What [the teacher] did affected my daughter in a way that now I'm having to go back and fix," she insisted.
In a statement, the Port St. Lucie school district said it "will not tolerate sexual harassment or any other form of illegal harassment by any of its employees, students, volunteers, or agents."
