Another election is approaching, so, of course, it’s time to hear from Cher.
The 73-year-old “I Got You Babe” singer took to Twitter over the weekend to weigh in on the 2020 Democratic candidates. What she had to say wasn’t pretty, and she did it, as usual, with a whole bunch of upper-case type, wayward punctuation and emojis.
“Don’t Think Dems Running 4 PRES.Can Beat Trump.WE NEED DEM WITH STRONGEST CHANCE 2 WIN MAJORITY OF [emoji of U.S. flag],& INSPIRE AMERICANS OF ALL COLORS,TO FIGHT TO THE END,AS A FAMILY. WE NEED MAGNETIC,LEADER TO BRING US TOGETHER,WITH IMPECCABLE-BACKGROUND,WHO CAN HIT GROUND RUNNING.we need [emoji of two hands praying].”

Let’s unpack that dense tweet. First, Cher apparently thinks winning a majority of (emoji of U.S. flag) will win the 2020 election. It won’t. Hillary Clinton won 65 million votes to President Trump’s 63 million votes in 2016, but lost the Electoral College 304-227.
She rightfully calls for a candidate who can “inspire Americans of all colors,” but then throws in fighting “to the end, as a family.” Who knows what that means.
And Cher calls for a “magnetic” leader — apparently a jab at the lackluster candidates atop the heap right now, like Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, as well as former vice president Joe Biden. “Impeccable background”? Not likely, because everyone who has been in politics invariably makes a few mistakes and has a few skeletons in the closet.
But Cher was right on when she called for prayers — especially with that field of candidates.
The “If I Could Turn Back Time” singer posted another tweet to her 3.7 million followers saying Biden might not be the best candidate.
“Trust & Love In Candidate Is Heaven..BUT WE LIVE HERE [emoji of Earth] FOR ME ITS LESSER OF TWO EVILS.I LOVED JOE, BUT JOE HAD MANY STRIKES AGAINST HIM. MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE..HES A GOOD, HONEST MAN WHO COULD BE PRES, BUT NOT RUN 4 PRES. He Doesn’t Do Social Media,&He’s Joe Warts & All.”

Then Cher asked: “What Would You Think if Bloomberg asked Hillary To Be His VP!?” referring to former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Blogger Matt Drudge on Saturday cited sources claiming Bloomberg is considering picking Clinton as his running mate. Bloomberg’s campaign quickly downplayed the rumors, which were likely a trial balloon to gauge support.
Cher is a longtime sufferer of TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome). In May 2019, Cher wrote on Twitter: “Been giving impeachment much thought throughout the day & I would [heart emoji] 2 see Trump impeached, brought 2 trial, [locked] up in [chain emoji], & boy toy of Big Bubba. My Delight In Seeing trump Run Out Of Town On a Rail, Is More Likely [heart emoji] over [brain emoji]. I WANT WHAT’S BEST 4 DEMOCRATS AND DEMOCRACY.”
She deleted the post, then posted another.
“This is Not Apology,It’s a Cher ‘wtf Moment’.Dont Usually Delete My Twts,But Sometimes I Need 2 Check Myself. What I Thought Of As Stupid Joke’On Paper’,Went 2 Far.Think trump Belongs In Jail, but Big Bubba Joke Was Wrong. If I Twt,I Have a Responsibility. THERES IS A LINE NOT 2 [X emoji],” she wrote.

All we can say is, laughing and crying emoji.
