I have a lot of German heritage, though I’ve never visited the Motherland myself (it’s definitely a life goal of mine). Having German grandparents made it very clear that American culture and German culture are wildly different beasts, but I feel like those grandparents taught me that Germans have an… Odd, sense of humor.

Which is why these Tweets from American English teacher Jessie Meier, currently living in Wolfsburg, Germany, bring me so much joy. They highlight some of the more amusing parts of German life and the weirdness that comes with the territory. Some of the humor is intentional, but plenty of it blatantly isn’t.
