A Benton, Illinois, mother was shocked when she saw a kid’s shirt she had ordered for her three-year-old daughter from a Chinese retailer featured an iconic NWA lyric: "F*** the police."
Kelsey Dawn Williamson, 23, told BuzzFeed News that while the shirt certainly doesn’t represent her daughter's view of police enforcement, she still can't stop laughing at the situation.
Williamson believed that the order she placed through AliExpress would feature just the characters of the classic children's books, Frog and Toad by Arnold Lobel. The mother has ordered from the retailer before for her daughter, Salem, and has never experienced an issue.
"Salem probably has 50-plus different little boutique outfits from my favorite store on AliExpress," the mom told the outlet.
When she received the package in the mail, much to her and her husband's surprise, she saw that Salem's shirt featured the profane slogan.
"I literally did not know how to react so I just took a few moments to stare at it and try to process," Williamson said. "Of all the things they could have added, why that? On a children's size shirt?"
In the store's defense, the "F*** the police" rendition of the Frog and Toad book cover has been a meme since 2010; perhaps there was confusion while printing.
After Williamson and her husband died of “laughter," she took to Facebook to share the hilarious shirt with her friends and family. Salem — who can't read just yet — modeled the top.
The post has since gone viral, much to Williamson's surprise, and has racked up more than 54,000 reactions and 27,000 shares.
"I've told [Salem], 'People really like your frog shirt!'“ Williamson said.
Williamson plans to put the shirt away in her baby box so the two can laugh about it when Salem's much older.
