An Alabama state senator has publicly shared some of the threats both he and his family have received for his support for the statewide ban on the practice of abortion. Some of the threats included breaking into his house and raping his wife.
Last weekend, state Sen. Garlan Gudger appeared on Alabama Public Television where he shared the horrific threats pro-abortion activists have sent his way for previously declaring that "abortion is murder" and "an unborn baby is a person who deserves protection, even in the most difficult of circumstances."
"It’s been tough dealing with the balancing of my wife and my children being attacked," Gudger told host Don Dailey on the program, LifeSiteNews reports. "I obviously don’t like that part. No one should be attacked or threatened with harm for a difference of opinion. But overall, I’m doing well, besides that."
Gudger added that "people have contacted my 15-year-old son on Snapchat and social media" and that his "wife had been contacted that they were going to break into our house and rape and do other things to her."
The threats directed at Gudger may have been spurred in part by his name being mentioned in a "Saturday Night Live" skit, he suggested. “I’ve always thought I’d like to be on 'Saturday Night Live,' but not in that way," Gudger said.
Though the state senator has braved the threats, he admits it has taken a toll on his life and the life of his colleagues, who have also endured similar threats. "It’s been a lot of stress at our household — and a lot of the other colleagues on the floor the same way," Gudger said.
Upon the pro-life law being signed by Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey, State Sen. Gudger acknowledged the bill was designed to be a direct challenge to the 1973 SCOTUS decision Roe v. Wade.
"There is no doubt that the ACLU and other liberal groups will contest this bill in court, but that’s the point — HB314 is designed to protect life and to challenge Roe v. Wade," he said. "Advances in ultrasound technology since 1973, when Roe was decided, show what we know in our hearts: the baby in the womb is a person, and as such, deserves our love and protection."
Gudger is far from the only pro-life advocate to receive such vile threats for supporting the unborn. Most recently, The Daily Wire's own Matt Walsh revealed that his own family had been threatened for openly advocating for the anti-abortion laws in Alabama and Georgia. Here were just a few examples he shared:
-"I'll rape your daughter and your wife then you tell me what you wanna do. You piece of shit..."-"Wish I could punch your dumbass face in you f****n mook I wish rape upon every female in your family so they are FORCED to have a child."-"Hope you daughter gets raped g"-"I hope your wife and daughter are both brutally raped"-"You f*****g idiot!!!! I hope you get raped up the a**"-"I hope your dad rapes you so your opinion can be valid"
Some attacks on pro-lifers have gone way beyond threats recently and into full-blown assault, harassment, or vandalism.
