Inside of the coolest expanding trailer ever

It doesn’t look too impressive at first glance. It looks like more of a utility trailer than a camping trailer. It only has a small single axle so you know it’s not too huge.

The backside has a large window but there’s really nothing special from the outside.

As soon as you find your favorite spot to camp, the magic happens. Both exterior walls fold out with an accordion type system that allows the trailer to expand 300%. It provides a living/sleeping room on one side, a bedroom on the other side, and a kitchen/living space and bathroom in the center.

The biggest problem with most trailers and campers today is that you are stuck in one long hall of a room. The space is confined and cramped for any number of people greater than two or three. Designers are forced to fit so much into a small space and people are demanding more and more amenities these days.

I’m talking about this trailer like it’s the future of outdoor excursions when in fact this incredible design was actually created in 1985 to compete in a “temporary living” design contest. The entry was named “De Markes” (The Awning) and conceptualized, designed, and built by Böhtlingk Architecture.
