10 Ways to Add Rose Water to Your Beauty Routine

What makes rose water so great?
Rose water is a bit of a miracle product in the world of skincare. (There’s a reason Cleopatra was such a fan.) It is a remarkably versatile solution to all sorts of skin ailments: from dry skin, to oily skin, to mature skin and rosacea.
But what makes it so special?
Rose water has natural anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce the redness that comes with irritated skin (say, contact dermatitis or eczema). It also makes a wonderful cleanser and helps to effortlessly clear out clogged pores.

But rose water is not a harsh solution. Rather than stripping the skin of its beautiful, natural oils, rose water simply hydrates and revitalizes the skin.
Looking for that daily glow? You found it.
But that’s not all. Rose water is also naturally antibacterial and full of antioxidants, which makes it a best friend to cell regeneration. So say goodbye scars and hello new, happy skin!
How can I use it in my own beauty routine?
Rose water is so packed with skin-soothing and complexion-perfecting ingredients that its uses are seemingly endless!
Here are some of my favorite ways to integrate rose water into your own beauty routine.

1. Swipe over clean skin to cleanse.
Rose water can be used as a cleanser on all skin types, I promise! Just apply to your face after rinsing for a refreshing cleanse.
2. Soothe the under-eye area.
Dealing with dark circles? Soak a cotton pad in chilled rose water and apply to the under-eye area. The rose water will help reduce any puffiness and get rid of the redness too!
3. Add a cap full to your shampoo.
If you commonly face itchy scalp, dryness or dandruff, this solution is for you! Just add a cap full of rosewater to your shampoo to soothe your irritated scalp and spur hair growth.
4. Mix with rose essential oil to slow aging.
For a more concentrated remedy, mix two tablespoons of rose water with 4-5 drops of rose essential oil. This mixture is a rich source of collagen-boosting vitamin A, nourishing vitamin E, and yummy omega 3′s and 6′s, all of which will lighten aging spots and hydrate tired skin.
5. Toss a few drops in with your bath to relax.
Are you a fan of aromatherapy? Then you’ll love this. Just a few drops in your bath acts as an antidepressant, sedative and aphrodisiac! It will easily lift your spirits and calm anxiety.
6. Swipe over waxed skin for a little pain relief.
Soak a cotton pad in rose water, then cool it in the fridge. Swipe over stinging, irritated skin after shaving or getting a wax to immediately relieve the pain.
7. Cool and apply to a sunburn.
Rose water’s soothing properties make it an excellent remedy for sunburned skin. To make this solution, crush 10 tulsi leaves and add to 200 ml of rose water. Refrigerate to cool and preserve, then spray over your body to calm the skin.
8. Make a beautiful all-natural lip stain.
Did you know that rose water and beetroot together make a wonderful lip stain? To make it, cut a beetroot into small pieces, then dehydrate or leave to dry in the sun. Grind the beetroot pieces into a fine powder and mix into a teaspoon of rose water. To apply, spread over your lips and leave to dry for 15 minutes, then rinse. Gorgeous!
9. Use as an all-natural mouthwash.
Thanks to its anti-bacterial properties, rose water can actually serve as a wonderful mouthwash alternative. Just swish a little after brushing to get that fresh feeling.
10. Use as a bed mist.
Rose water makes an incredible air freshener and can help deodorize sheets and furniture. To use, simply mist over the area and enjoy!
