https://www.projectcalgary.org/keep_covid_protections For those who don't know, Alberta's govt is planning to do away with ALL Covid19 safety protocols beginning August 16th. No testing, no tracing, no isolation of cases. With no data on the caseload within the province, the virus will spread rapidly, as it has already done since mask mandates were repealed at the start of July. Alberta is Canada's 2nd least-vaccinated province, and hospitals are bound to be overwhelmed swiftly. The majority of Albertans are horrified by the new health authority stance of 'let's just pretend nothing's happening'. There are protests daily in the province's capital city, Edmonton, as well as its other major urban centre, Calgary. The province's Chief Medical Officer, Deena Hinshaw, has only offered empty apologies for 'upsetting' people, but has said she plans to go ahead with throwing the province's population to the wolves. Not that we'll know how many wolves there are, exactly, as there will be no way to inform the govt about the attacks! Calls have been made for the immediate resignation of the new policy's supporters, but given that its the people in charge who are implementing this atrocity of a public health plague bomb (Provincial premier Jason Kenney, Provincial Health Minister Shandro, CMO Hinshaw), those calls are unlikely to be heeded. The province's best chance is for its major urban centres, the areas most likely to see viral mutations and heavy case loads, to protect themselves independently from the provincial government. So, please, if you live in Calgary and would like to see the city protected from rampant and unchecked Covid spread, please sign the petition.
