Most ...The type of popcorn makes a difference too. Most commercial brands have been bred to create very large puffy kernels when popped. These popped kernels have so much air they don't have much flavor, requiring butter and salt to make up for the lack. I've found with my type 2 diabetes that the small kernel heritage varieties not only provide more flavor (and so require little to no butter or salt) but surprisingly enough don't muck about with my blood sugar levels the way the commercial popcorn does. <br /><br />The difference is so noticeable that I've stopped going to the big chain theater in town which serves the "fluffy" popcorn and now go exclusively to a smaller, local theater that serves a tiny kernel heritage popcorn. (FWIW, the variety is called TBM, or Tiny But Mighty, and can be found online.
