Alabama roofing company faces backlash for giving away FREE AR-15 assault rifle to every customer in July 4 promotion

An Alabama roofing company giving away a free assault rifle to every customer is facing a backlash over its July 4 promotion.

Digital Roofing Innovations has promised a free AR-15 semi-automatic weapon to everyone who purchases a roof in the state.

'Donald Trump says make America great again. I say make America gun again,' its owner, US Navy veteran Zach Blenkinsopp, says in the promotional advert.

In the video, where he's seen posing with the gun and drinking from a beer can, Blenkinsopp claims the gun is 'to protect you and your family'.

But many Facebook users were not convinced, with one going as far as accusing him of endangering life.

'Help kill people for the price of a new roof, disgusting,' wrote Ray Shackleford. 'Everyone should boycott this company and put them out of business.'
Tim Efferson said: 'So we get a free, unregistered AR from a half-naked drunk dude if we buy a roof? No Thanks!'

While Alan Foster wrote: 'You'd be the last person I'd trust on my roof. You seem more like a liability that a professional.'

Blenkinsopp, who served in the Navy from 2004 until 2012, says customers have to go through checks before when they redeem the $500 voucher at Cypress Creek Indoor Range in Florence.

'Any red-blooded, right wing American, when they see that, it's going to give them a little extra incentive,' he told AL.com.

In the promotional video, in which he wears nothing but short-shorts, boots and a cowboy hat, he goes on to say: 'I'm a gosh darn Navy veteran, active duty eight and a half years.
'My roofing company's not a gimmick and this baby's not either. It's here to protect you and your family.'
