Woman Kicked Out Of Mall For Wearing 'Inappropriate' Tank Top In Middle Of A Heatwave

We're in the middle of a heatwave, so when Hannah Pewee had to visit the Woodland Mall in Grand Rapids, Michigan, she dressed for the weather. But the 20-year-old student says that she was kicked out of the mall on Saturday after another shopper complained about her outfit.

What was she wearing? We highly suggest that you avert your eyes because yes, she was wearing a Finding Nemo tank top and denim shorts. Shortly after the incident, Pewee took to Facebook to share her side of events.

In a caption alongside the photo, Pewee wrote:
"As many of you know, it is NINETY degrees outside today in West Michigan. Aka, really hot. So, of course, I decided to dress for the weather: shorts and a tank top. But apparently, how I was dressed was too slutty for the public, as I was kicked out of the Woodland Mall today."

She went on to claim that a security guard asked her to leave after another shopper complained:
"Yup. Apparently some anonymous person reported me to MALL SECURITY for inappropriate dress and I was kicked out."
"Never mind that within a one foot radius there were plenty of girls dressed just like me, since it's NINETY degrees outside. I am so angry right now I'm shaking. I felt so embarrassed I almost cried. All because a stranger didn't like how I dressed."
Pewee slammed the mall's decision in the post which has since received over 8,000 shares.
"The Woodland Mall should be ashamed of themselves, as well as that anonymous complainer. It's my body, and it's hot outside! I'm not going to show up in jeans and a sweater, sorry. Don't like it? Look away! I was out having a fun time with my sister and next thing I know, I'm out on the street. Slut-shaming how girls are dressed is deplorable and outdated, and it needs to stop."
According to a second Facebook post posted by Pewee, a representative of the mall quickly contacted her to apologize after the post went viral.

“Alright, so I talked on the phone with the someone on the management team at Woodland and they apologized for what happened yesterday," she wrote. "Apparently they’re going to revise their clothing policy on their website so it is clearer what is and isn’t acceptable. In addition, security will be discussing how to properly handle situations like this. I want to thank everyone for the supporting messages, it really helped, especially when so many people were more than ready to tear me apart. Thank you all so much."
The Woodland Mall's Facebook page also responded to a comment on Pewee's post, adding:
"Hi Jessica, we have apologized to Hannah and we apologize to our community. It is never our intention to shame or embarrass anyone. We’re going to make sure that everyone on our team is aware of how to handle situations like this in the future. We dropped the ball on this one."
It's far too hot for this nonsense.

  4. The Mall is going to lose a LOT of customers!

That girl is dressed as she should be! Nothing indecent about it.
It's 90 + - SUMMER - and the half the customers are young women dressed the same way.

THere's going to be a looot of Chicanas, and CUBANS dressed in tees like that....fat Latinas with TIGHT tees and shorts.

Lots of luck (didn't say what kind) to the Malls, if they're going into the business of minding how others are dressed.
